It’s not very often in life that you feel you are exactly where you are supposed to be, like somehow you got it right, the right place at the right time, like everything is perfect and as it should be. That’s the feeling I had when I moved to Chicago in 2009. Although it wasn’t always my plan or goal to move to Chicago, it ended up becoming my home.
During high school, the goal was always New York City, the fashion mecha. Then, during college an opportunity in Los Angeles presented itself and, for a short time, I thought that’s where I was going to end up. When that fell through I thought I was going to be stuck in Indiana forever, but I kept looking for opportunities and I landed in Chicago. Everything seemed to fall into place and because of that, I whole-heartedly believe that everything happens for a reason. It’s a simple concept when looking back and reflecting on your past, but I’ve come to realize it is incredibly difficult when living in the present or trying to plan for the future.
I’d like to share this profound time of my life with you. The part of my life that truly made me who I am today and the moments I still think about today. Some of which I look back fondly and miss terribly and others I cringe when I think about. Either way, they have taught me great lessons and shaped my future. I hope you enjoy.
